How we make Plainly Put Health, and how you can trust it.
We started Plainly Put Health because most health content is loud, sold, or unsourced — usually all three. So we built a brand around the opposite.
This page tells you exactly how we make what you read, and what each signal on it means. If we ever fall short of what's written here, hold us to it.
Readers shouldn't have to second-guess what they're reading. Every editorial decision we make ladders up to that one sentence.
We cite primary sources, inline, for every factual claim. That means peer-reviewed studies, government health agencies (CDC, NIH, FDA, WHO), or named credentialed experts — not other newsletters, not social posts, not "experts say."
If the evidence is weak, contested, or evolving, we say so. "Here's what we know. Here's what we don't" is a sentence we write often.
The orange dot is our trust mark. It tells you exactly how a piece was made.
🟠 Plainly Reviewed (solid orange dot):
The founder personally read every word. Three or more primary sources, fact-checked. Compliance reviewed. Voice-edited. Fully auditable. Used for our anchor briefs, deep-dives, and debunks. Target: about 30% of what we publish.
⚪ Plainly Curated (outline orange dot)
AI-assisted research and drafting. Human-edited. Sources verified. Not a line-by-line founder review. Used for weekly digests, trend roundups, and link curations.
No mark
Quick takes, opinion, social posts. Clearly labeled as such.
Sponsored content does not get the orange dot. Affiliate placements do not get the orange dot. Partner posts do not get the orange dot. Ever.
The dot is editorial trust, not commercial trust. If a piece is sponsored, it will be labeled clearly at the top — and it will carry no dot, regardless of how careful the review was. This is the single rule that protects every other rule on this page.
We use AI tools to research, draft, and find sources faster. Every Plainly Curated piece is AI-assisted. Every Plainly Reviewed piece has a human reading every word before it ships.
We disclose this because pretending otherwise — like most publishers do — is the kind of thing this brand was built to push back on. Transparency is the trust signal. Not the absence of AI.
We will get things wrong. When we do, we correct the piece in place, mark the correction with a date, and explain what changed. We do not quietly edit and hope no one noticed.
If you spot an error, email [email protected]. We read every one.
Plainly Put Health is health education. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. We are not your doctor.
Nothing we publish should replace a conversation with a qualified clinician.
Plainly Put Health is published by Plainly Put Media LLC, founded by Austin S. — a U.S. Air Force healthcare administrator. Austin reviews every Plainly Reviewed piece personally.
We do not use rank, uniform, or military position in our branding. The views published here are independent and do not represent the Department of the Air Force or the Department of Defense.
